Once you are 20 weeks pregnant, it is advised to no longer sleep on your back because the weight of your uterus disrupts the blood flow to the baby. For my first pregnancy this was not a problem, as I used to be a side and belly sleeper. Then once I was breast feeding through the night with my first born, I got more comfortable on my back and it actually became my sleep position of choice.
So, for this pregnancy it has been difficult for me to find comfort on my side without feeling backaches, soreness, or restlessness through the night.
